Tea for Travel Brings BIG Sales

Tea and travel offer comfort and adventure.
Tea and travel offer comfort and adventure.

So many people are tuning up the car, ordering tickets for planes, trains, and buses, and joining the exciting experience of traveling domestically and ‘round the world. As a tea seller, you’re in a terrific position to make the case for enjoying the tea-drinking experience whether camping or hiking in a national park, luxuriating in a five-star hotel in a foreign country or visiting family or friends anywhere in the country.

By using table, window, and counter displays, you can pack in a trunk-load of ideas for every traveler who wants ideas about how to include favorite tea-drinking experiences while traveling, especially when tearooms or tea shops are not plentiful or easily accessible. Add travel brochures and posters, travel gadgets like heating coils, dual AC/DC chargers, (cross-market with your local travel agent or store) and, of course, teas and accessories they can take with them.

Remind customers that, in a pinch, bottled water, a glass or borosilicate measuring cup, and teas can cold brew a delicious cup. For a more sophisticated version offer a display of our borosilicate Glass Tasting Set that steeps single-servings of tea through an integrated strainer into a matching cup. Adds a visual experience to the aura of fragrance and flavor.

Post what you’re selling or doing for travelers and visitors on your website, on flyers that can be tossed into every sales bag, window display signage, and on in-store counter areas. Instruct staff to ask if customers have travel plans and what they’re taking along for their tea-drinking pleasure.

IDEAS FOR TEA-DRINKING TRAVELERS:

TEA (Of course!) Loose leaf is our ideal, so place summer favorites (greens, fruity herbals, iced tea selections) on display next to convenient paper filters and foldable stainless steel filters. And, yes, convenience matters so showcase your easiest-to-package gourmet tea bags. Or checkout our loose-leaf samplers like Jasmine Teas, Summer Teas, and Pillow Time Teas. (Ask us about other sampler sets we can provide!)

BREWERS GALORE. The go-anywhere anytime brewer is our best-selling ingenuiTEA. Fill with leaves into stainless steel filter, pour on fresh water, and when ready, place on a cup and release the valve. Beautiful, clear tea is ready to drink and unbreakable. Can be used with heated or room-temperature water for campers, hikers, and those who think roughing it is Motel 6. Easy to clean, too! Made with 100% BPA-free Tritan.

Forget the typical travel thermos, nothing is more travel-friendly than our moderniTEA (14 oz.) or two models of activiTEA 2 travel infusers (12 and 17 oz.) Made of unbreakable borosilicate glass with stainless steel infusers, each brews tea easily and keeps hot tea hot and iced tea cold. Most hotel and motel coffeemakers can heat water to pour over tea leaves. If your customers love green teas, remind them that there’s no need to heat the water; pour on room temperature spring water over the leaves and “cold brew” by infusing to taste, 10-20 minutes. No bitterness!

Double Walled Porcelain Infuser Mugs are modestly priced, a visual delight (we have 16 designs,) and sturdier on road trips than single-use, flimsy, plastic or paper cups that get tossed. Hot beverages stay hot and cold ones stay cold. Holds 12 oz. Exceptional examples of form, function and FUN.

THOUGHTFUL TRAVELERS SAY “THANK YOU” WITH TEA

Customers eager to say thank you for gestures of hospitality along their travels, can find a lovely choice of your shop’s tea samples (easy and lightweight to pack), delicious honeys or amber sugar, exquisite tea candles, and for the true fellow culinary or tea aficionada, package up some gift boxes of herbs, spices, and inclusions to help customers cement new and established friendships. P.S. If you offer Gift Certificates, that will make thank-you gift buying decisions even easier.

TEA IDEAS FOR THE NON-TRAVELER

Not everyone is so eager to leave home, so please remember the armchair traveler, the staycation explorer, and visitors coming to your city. They all will love learning about your in-store tea tasting or other seasonal tea events, new accessories, and the latest, freshest teas. For those customers not traveling because they’re playing host to family and friends, consider offering pre-packaged or packaged-to-order gift baskets for them to use to welcome guests to their home.

Show off your best teas and accessories along with other ideas for purchase that are available “only in your area” like locally-grown fruit or culinary products, tickets to local entertainment or brochures about unusual or out-of-the-way sights.
